I always loved these head shots. Cool to see how Guy varied them over time. He did one line up for ever series and then again for the TPB
Gorgeous piece Matt! Guy's work on BPRD is up there as one of the greatest runs on any title in comics history. He was able to flesh out Abe, Roger, Johann, and Liz in a way that turned them into living breathing people and these portraits perfectly capture that. I managed to get my page directly from Guy right before it became impossible to get ahold of him and I always regret not buying as many as I could afford 😄
Yeah I regreted never getting any BPRD work from Guy directly. I did get some commissions and other pieces though. I liked how he added more spot black to his excellent linework. It created a nice balance with his storytelling. I just did a reread of the whole BPRD run, I think it is time for Sandman Mystery Theater and Marquis.
