DescriptionThis is the largest Spider-Man panel page art I will likely ever own, and one of the most stylish, from a belated (33 years later) early days Spidey story that fills the gap between Amazing Fantasy #15 and Amazing Spider-Man #1.Artist Paul Lee brings writer Kurt Busiek’s clever series to life with gorgeous, fully painted artwork like this one, where Spidey’s flipping and fighting his way through every panel, including (and especially) the amazing (pun intended) mid-page money shot. The page is created in mixed media with a whopping 17″ x 23″ image area on textured Bristol board, measuring 20″ x 29.” Amazing Fantasy #15 first appeared 63 years ago with an August cover date; This belated sequel is itself now 30 years old! Wow! Nonstop action on this Spider-Man page for Amazing Fantasy. Phenomenal work by Paul Lee!

You sure got an action packed page! The fact that there are wooden crates in the background makes it feel like a warehouse. Does that mean this takes place at the old Acme warehouse where Spidey caught the burglar?

When painted comics became all the rage as Marvels proved the prestige format was a big seller in dollar share! AF16 was a very ambitious project with Paul Lee who brought the Ditko heart and soul of a Spidey who fought crime before other costumes showed up.
