A FABLES HALLOWEEN by Mark Buckingham (Endless Trick 'r Treat)

Buckingham's artwork showcases a fine vision of creativity and artistry!  It also set off a chain of friends and events where each did their job well to get it to you! 

I think what makes this piece especially compelling is how it balances an incredible sense of individuality together with group cohesion. Each character is rendered with distinct personality and costume detail. Whether it’s the textured folds of the trench coat, the weight of the hooded robe, or the playful, confident smirks of the children, they all feel part of the same shared moment. I think it's fair to say Bucky came through!

I love Fables. I love Sandman. And I love Buckingham! This is a truly great commission!!!

Buckingham is awesome! Fables was such a great series, and the idea to have a hybrid/crossover/tribute with their main characters dressed as Sandman/Endless characters for Halloween is very fun, unique, and executed amazingly by Mark. Snow White as Death and Bigby as Constantine alone would've been a cool commission idea but this takes it to the next level. congrats!

The ideas for the commission were innovative and the artistic execution of the highest standard. It is quite evident that Mark Buckingham put in his very best for this piece. I hadn't realized (although I ought to have) that Joseph was his official art rep (Joseph is a real standup guy too). Many congrats, Matt!

I didn't expect such a fast turnaround so I think Mark must have really enjoyed the concept and prioritized this over other pending commissions.

But it was not without complication.

I was never notified that my commission idea was accepted, and so there was no downpayment nor due date. That put me on the spot to get it paid-in-full within three days — with no prior notice —when I got a text on Wednesday advising that the piece was complete and ready for pick-up at SDCC that weekend. I was able to convince Joseph to accept a paypal payment since I wasn't in San Diego, and thereafter arrange the complicated hand-off process described above. 

Stressful but worth it.

Dear Matt, and that is why when an art rep (like Joseph) is solid and reliable, it is much less risky. It bears mentioning again that is so well done!

Thought I saw this posted a couple months ago, but this is a pretty awesome commission.  Mark's commissions always turn out great, and this is a really fun, creative idea that really leverages his experience with the characters.  Congrats!
