DescriptionFederico Javinal (1931-2013) was one of the modern greats of the Filipino comic book artists. Javinal started working for Bulaklak Komiks in 1955, becoming Francisco V. Coching assistant in 1956, a position he held through 1973. Javinal learned well from Coching, incorporating elements of the latter’s figure and pen work in his own comic book work. Coching later worked for Liwayway magazine, the Filipino weekly publication. I’m pleased to be able to offer up a page from 1996, one which appeared in Liwayway. Anak ng Bulkan was originally a 1959 adventure film, featuring a young boy and his flying creature Goliat. This horizontal page features a nice logo panel, complete with an image of Bentoy and Goliat. It’s a beautifully drawn page, featuring some really lovely pen work. Measuring 11¼”x 14¼”, the page is in Fine condition, with typically handling marks. A bargain of a page by one of the Filipino greats. $75.00 + 14.00 first class shipping. SOLD!Social/Sharing |
