The Stuff of Legend Remarque by Charles P. Wilson III

So I've had this issue kicking around on my shelf for FIFTEEN YEARS. It was the first American comic I'd read that just blew me away. Other than Stuff of Legend, I'd read a decent amount of Tintin and Sgt. Rock and general manga/manhua when I was a kid but only started reading American comics heavily after my partner put me onto them during the covid years.

Meeting Charles at OAX this year, I picked up a few pages from the series but was kicking myself at not recognising the name (admittedly it's been a few years haha) and not bringing this issue to the con.

Jump forward to Terrificon 2025, a friend mentioned he was going so I took a look at the guest list. Seeing Charles' name on the list I immediately planned out the trip to Connecticut.

When I handed the issue over to him to sign, he went "Wowww I haven't seen this in forever" and told me a harrowing tale of how the printing at the time was behind schedule. The publishers were literally running the comics out to them, and as they were being handed over to him and the team, he noticed that their hands were all stained black because the ink was 1) still fresh 2) super glossy so it was difficult to sign/draw on. Luckily, my copy has had over a decade to dry out!
