DescriptionFrom my favorite art team of the 1970's comes this mesmerizing title page featuring the the good doctor guest starring in the tomb of Dracula. The eye is immediately drawn to Doctor Strange’s intense gaze and the swirling orb, which dominates the foreground. The overlapping of Strange’s hand, cloak, and the crystal ball creates layers of depth, pulling the viewer into the page. The diagonal tilt of Strange’s body and cloak contrasts with the roundness of the orb, giving the panel an almost three-dimensional flow. The heavy blacks around Strange’s face and cloak contrast sharply with the glowing orb, suggesting mystical power and tension. The reveal of Doctor Strange’s name in bold, block lettering hits like a dramatic entrance, anchoring the page as a turning point. Social/Sharing |

Colan and Palmer working that ol' black ink magic! The logo being centered and the facial strain add to the dark and mysterious tone!

This is such a cool piece. Little details like seeing the Eye of Agamotto through the sphere and his hair and part of his cape becoming gaseous make this a very cool page indeed. Great pickup!

One of Gene Colan's best splash pages, and everyone here knows that's saying something!

Colan and Palmer. It almost doesn't seem right to mention one name without the other. Truly a magical pairing. And this incredible title splash shows exactly why. Wow!

A stunning page, from an absolultely superb crossover story by that fantastic artistic partnership. Strange seems desperate and worn out here, in this moody title splash. Incredible art.
