Description

Four master artworks for Necronomicon Ex-Mortis pages hand-illustrated by special effects artist Tom Sullivan for Sam Raimi's Evil Dead II. Archaeologist Raymond Knowby (John Peaks) discovered the ancient book known as the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis or "Book of the Dead" with his family, studied it, and made recordings of his recitations of its passages, which unleashed the evil force of the Kandarian Demon.

These four artworks, from the personal collection of Sullivan, were used as master artworks for both the stunt and hero Necronomicon Ex-Mortis pages. To create the pages seen in the final cut, Sullivan copied these four pencil artworks - one each depicting Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) in a medieval setting foreshadowing the film's finale, a ribbed tunnel with an explosion-like burst, a large castle on a cliffside, and one entirely of ancient symbols - onto parchment paper, aged the paper, and in the case of the hero pages, colored them with mixed media. The cream-color paper exhibits some minor stains. Dimensions: (each) 6.5" x 5.25" (16.75 cm x 13.5 cm)
