Robin Malone Daily 12/24/68 - Bob Lubbers

Lubbers was a fantastic strip artist that could do it all - comedy, drama, action. While he’s almost completely forgotten today I was surprised to hear him mentioned as an influence in an interview with Gilbert Hernandez I was watching recently. When I came across this strip for sale it definitely struck me as something Los Bros would appreciate with Lubbers appealing and lively female characters designs and his beautiful line quality. He was good friends with Stan Drake and I think you can definitely see some overlap in their inking styles in Lubber’s later work.
