Description

Big fan of Matt Smith's work on Hellboy and had the opportunity to meet him in Baltimore a few years back. Was a pleasure, and I even picked up a Twin Peaks character print from him. I also learned that Matt does mostly digital work. Yo Kuri ended up getting Matt to do an inks over blue line recreation of this digital cover, and it is wonderful to see an inked version! Great composition and detail fill the page as the dense forest and wolf in the background create an ominous tone.

Soundtrack for this one today is more than fitting, crank it up f'ers! RIP Brent Hinds!

Sincere thank goes out to Yo Kuri! We worked out a fun trade and am thrilled to get as close to an original as you can from Matt.

This embellishes on the bones of the original and branches out in amazing ways to have all the eerie and mysterious ways it can affect the viewer!

Holy cow thats cool! I think Yo just opened up a new collecting category with the digital art to physical art recreation strategy! 👏- these inks are excellent and exceed the effect of the original cover to my eyes. Congrats!

The art is so detailed and there is a lot of great stuff that transforms very differently than the final colored published piece. Both great, but really get to enjoy the full art experience in this inked piece, especially the creature on the bottom.
