Description

The Human Torch (Johnny Storm) stops Spider-Man from almost fatally beating Morbius, the Living Vampire on this intense page from Marvel Team-up #3 (1972) with pencils by Ross Andru and inks by Frank Giacoia. Andru was the primary artist on Amazing Spider-Man from 1973 to 1978. His warm-up for this long run began with Marvel Team-up #1-#3, which launched Spidey's second long running title. This was a very early appearance of Morbius, who was making just his third appearance anywhere following his introduction in Amazing Spider-Man #101 and #102 just months earlier.

Awesome page! I'm amazed at how much better the art is in MTU 3, as compared to issue 1 and 2. Those issue looked like Andru's Flash art, but here, you can see what greatest was in store for the Amazing Spider-Man. Giacoia did a great job inking Ross for this book and maybe that was the difference.

VERY NICE!!! I always thought Team-up 3 was one of the very best MTU issues... for the art and reappearance of Morbius. Such a great comic and this fantastic page is a great example of what made it so special!
