As Bruce Wayne realizes he has lost some of his edge; Roman Sionis - Black Mask - is back in Gotham City and is ordering arson attacks on various properties owned by Bruce Wayne's companies. Batman infiltrates his gang, but there is soon an additional twist to the situation - Black Mask has Lucius Fox kidnapped.

This issue marks the prelude to Knightfall Saga as it shows the first signs of Batman losing his edge. On this page, Sarah Essen seeks out Commissioner Gordon to go over wedding plans but Gordon is perched on the GCPD roof more concerned about the Bat. Essen does not approve of Batmans "above the law" status.

Fun era, right before Knightfall in 1992 when the Bat movies were going strong. This Tom Grindberg and Trevor Scott art was a leap forward showing storytelling more in tune with the new decade.
