Beautiful Abby piece with that concern on her face! I see it here more clearly than in the fnal painting. Maybe the pencils and the shading is a better medium for what Totleben did at that time to have the immense details.

I've noticed that a lot of the time the pencils of an artist can express more emotion and texture.
