A great choice for a commission and Colton nailed it! Emma looks personally offended by Kitty's costume.
Thanks for the info. I didn't know it was published.
A beautiful looking complete short story! And I always love the occasional appearances of super heroes in the story line.
Thanks for the info, much appreciated!
A perfect P.I. piece!
I don't remember but less than it's worth to me. What happened to your mostly fantasy art collection?
I think the team was the distraction so that Cyclops could get in position to take the shot if Professor X gave the ok. Which he didn't.
It's been so long since I've looked at the comics that I forgot about Jay's excellent work on the book. I definately see it but are you sure? I saw a solo piece by him that had blood on the ground and it makes me think you're right.
Definately the main reason I chose this one. But I also loved the battered look of the rest of the team in the first panel after having a building thrown at them piece by piece.
Thanks. I thought it might be them or one of them but something about the face and they always gave her a more pronounced widow's peak. But I love the vibe.
Manning did a great job capturing her escence. I knew I knew that face.
So it was Inger Stevens? That was a wild guess.
She looks kind of like June Lockhart who just died this October, but I don't see a show that resembles the cover. Also Inger Stevens.
They were one of the great teams back in the day.
Just saying that William Russell didn't create and doesn't own Batman. And no offense but Batman is about as far as you can get from independent, he is the establishment.
Love this cover! I couldn't believe I was lucky enough just to pick up a signed and numbered print after missing out when they were first offered.
The 70's and 80's were the best! Loved his Killraven.
This time the name I redacted was mine. I don't remember the year but it was when the first issue came out.
It's funny, I've had this piece for quite a while and didn't really wonder what was underneath the white out. After I posted it yesterday I used a flash light and checked. Take care and be safe Brett.
Yeah me neither, his X-men story would have looked awesome!
He put every inch of that page to good use. Never heard of Zaffino before so thanks for that!
Fantastic piece! That's a really nice run of Truman and Grell too, congrats!
That is a beautiful full pencil piece! Practically walks of the page.
Drew may have enjoyed drawing Luse as a woman and used some of the visuals for Lynn, like the widow's peak.
Thanks, but it's definately Lusiphur. I commissioned it from Drew in 1999 and Lynn didn't appear until a couple of years later. I also have the cover to Salvation Vol. 7 posted which is also Lusiphur but with the big arm tattoo.
Just so you know, one of your Poison Elves pages (issue 71 pg 19) is misnamed as Drew Hay so it's seperated from the others. I actually have four pages that go with that scene that I haven't added yet from issue #72. That's a nice run you have, congrats!
I've noticed that a lot of the time the pencils of an artist can express more emotion and texture.
He's one of my all time favorites, writing and art. I'm not an artist but the gold parts seem to be zipatone that was intentionally colored gold by Guy at the time. I just added another page I hadn't gotten around to adding yet as an example (Baker Street #9 pg 7). The only parts not zipatoned are the pure white parts but only in specific places is it golden. I think he used the gold to add subtler shades of grey to give the work more depth when it's printed in black and white. Like the old black and white movies had people dressed in odd color clothes based on how that color would apear in black and white. That's just my guess.
The color changes to my Jason Alexander Empty Zone pages might be from the adhesive to keep the acetate affixed to the page but I'm not sure. Great detailed art regardless.
Grendel, so it all worked out. Since he sold one he decided to sell me the other when I asked.
