DescriptionI picked this up at the Heroes Con 2025 auction. I love Nowlan so much, His spotted blacks are masterful, creating weight and atmosphere that feel perfectly suited to Batman. The cape itself is alive with detail, almost veiny in the way Nowlan textures the folds, giving it an organic, unsettling presence. His trademark fire hydrant is here too, I saw this and thought it was funny, and now I've noticed it's a thing Nowlan has used on covers again and again.A bonus was the hand lettered logo. Classic “New Look” Batman design. I think Kevin Nowlan is one of the finest artists ever to put ink to page. His ability to merge bold graphic choices with meticulous detail makes every drawing feel unique, and like many other of my favorite artists I'm always interested to see his interpretation of just about anything. Happy to pick up another of his pieces to add to my collection. Social/Sharing |

Done with care and aimed to bring back that lean and athletic Olympian look paired with the dark gothic edge of 70's Batman! Nowlan inking himself is showing his virtuoso vision using lush textures!

Your description about Kevin and his work pretty much said it all and I agree with you 1000%. Congratulations on this spectacular Batman piece and extraordinary Nowlan example. Kevin is a true master.

Wow! What a stunning illustration of Batman by the great Kevin Nowlan! There's always something magical about a drawing by Kevin. His work is always compelling and interesting. I love his Batman here, Kevin's style is so well-suited to the Dark Knight. Love the cape spreading out behind him. I notice that on the underside if the cape there are veins, almost like you'd see on the wings of bat. How cooll is that? I also love the buildings behind Batman, rising up almost like seeing them through a fish-eye lens. The hand drawn logo is an added bonus. Great pick-up, congrats!
