Nice overhead shot of the flying fortress. Robbins was in his element with this strip that combined intrigue and espionage in a world of international tensions.
Love that anachronistic last panel!
Me too! Thanks, Miki!
Really nice work from Robbins on this daily, I love that last panel. nice addition Peter!
Thanks, Kavi. I also like the last panel. Well rendered and laid out panel juxtaposing the modern and ancient.
Like certain other illustrators, Frank Robbins did not care for the superhero genre nor did his style fit it well, hence why his work on Invaders and almost anything else he did is loathed by so many comic book fans. But looking at his Johnny Hazard strip immediately shows that he was an excellent artist. This is a very nice example and the bookend panels are terrific.
Interesting! Thanks, Lee!
Great strip Peter! I feel like Robbins handled the transition to a post-war strip better than most and he really took Johnny all over the globe and got into all sorts of weird situations as a spy for W.I.N.G. Really fun stuff to read in reprints!
