Description
Here's an addition to my gallery that's long overdue! I've certainly amassed quite the collection of sketch cards from Jeff Moy over the years, but his twin brother Phil also takes sketch card commissions via WhatNot, and I've been wanting to pick up some cards from him for ages!

In keeping with tradition, the first character I requested from Phil was none other than Andromeda, my favourite lady Legionnaire (Brainiac 5 might be my favourite, but I'm not sure requesting a male character from Phil wouldn't get me excommunicated by his live chat!). This is Phil's full-torso card option, and you really have to marvel at just how much detail he's able to fit onto such a tiny card. I let Phil pick the pose, and his first thought was to have Andy hefting a big rock over her head, which is just fine by me! I love that he turned your standard "action" pose into more of a pinup-y one by having Andy tuck her free hand behind her head, almost as though she's actively posing for a photo. It also plays really well into the confident, sometimes cocky aspect of her character, where she's so sure of her own strength that she's almost more focused on looking good than on giving the rock her full attention. Definitely a great character piece, even though it's just a sketch card.

Phil's approach to colouring differs in a lot of ways from Jeff's, but the end result is every bit as gorgeous. I think the dark blue highlights in the starfield of Andromeda's costume are the perfect contrast to the orange portions, and I love that he made some of the starts twinkle, as though the fabric is actually sparkly. You've got to love that he put thought into the background, too, with a rocky cliff and some sky giving Andy's feat of strength some context. Did someone dare her to lift the rock? Was it going to fall onto someone below the cliff before she caught it? Is she just showing off? It's fun to wonder!

Another talented Moy enters the chat! I really like the pose and facial expression Phil gave Andy here, and the colors really look nice. Full figure/torso looks great on this sketch card. Great addition!

Phil's wickedly talented!  And I think he did an amazing job of characterizing Andy in this card, even though he definitely doesn't draw her very often.

The most glamorous one yet with the extra sparkle and the pose to reveal the costume in full.

"Glamorous" is the perfect word for this one!  And I definitely love the full-torso shot for how much more of the character you get to see.  It's great to get that Legion belt buckle in there!

Thanks!  For such a great, compelling character with a kickass costume and design, there's shockingly little art on CAF that features her.  I love doing my part to boost the numbers!
