Description
Stingray meets... Tyler T?! That's right, we've got meta for this, my first ever diss track commission! This was a direct response to Tyler's commission from Vero depicting a herd of T-Rexes doing bad things to a fever of stingrays (see it here: "Dinner at the Beach").

I could not let this affront stand, and Vero was game to do a clap back. When I approached her with the concept for this piece, I was hesitant, expecting her to tell me it was too dark. Her response was "OH NOOOOOOOOOO! CRUEL AND UNUSUAL!!!" I then asked if it was too much or just enough, and she confirmed: just enough. She was on board, and the rest is history.

Right off the bat, this piece was an homage to the cover for Web of Spider-Man #32 which is exciting in its own right. The headstone is fantastic from the subtle shading that makes it read more as a headstone, to the very realistic lettering. The large crocodile statue on the top is fantastic. Stingray looking on from the sidelines, striking a flamboyant pose like a vaudevillian antagonist made me smile, but nowhere near as much as the stingray shaped word balloon. Such a small detail that, now that I've seen it, seems obvious but no one's ever done it before! Finally, there's Tyler T aka TSquared. The logo on the shirt is great, and Vero even worked in his trademark cargo shorts! Thankfully, Tyler enjoyed this piece as much as I did. The real question now is... will he keep the beef going?

Black and white, pen and ink, on 11x17 board.

YOUR first ever diss track commission? I'm pretty sure this is the entire hobby's first ever diss track commission! You guys are both wackadoodles, but hey, it should all be about having fun and it looks like you're doing that!

I give Tyler full credit for throwing down the guantlet, thus creating the diss track commission. But you know what they say: don't start none, won't be none! And yeah, this is the most fun I've ever had commissioning a piece!

Poor little T² 😥. For all of our entertainment, I hope you guys keep the fake beef and the diss tracks coming!

Ill be the first to say, I have no idea what is happening here, but the crocodile is really doing it for me.  A bit of Edward Gorey-esque energy. Congrats!

I foresee a tsunami of Bob Layton and Paul Walter Hauser coming back your way.

That is one emotional Croc! Fun inspiration taken from Web Of 32. This OA battle will leap out of the grave, beyond the canvas, and onto our CAF feeds! Your move, T-squared...

Future historians of comic art will need footnotes to annotate the body of work which these two pieces will generate in response, in the months and years to come.

The nod to the ASM cover is fantastic, but it's the cargo shorts and crack that got me!!! Lol Talk about a clapback literally! :) I was NOT ready when I first saw this hahaha The idea and execution from Vero is so good here and I especially love the ray shaped lightning in the sky. This was all in good fun and I think that came across wonderfully! Big thanks to Vero aka Big "Barb"asaurus for even entertaining our ridiculous ideas!
