Description“Wolverine” (2025)by Carson Grubaugh (1981- ) 11 x 17 in., ink, wash, gouache on paper Coppola Collection The design sense on this was outstanding. The more you look, the more you see. Then you see some more! Carson double majored in Fine Art and Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley, and then earned a Masters in Painting from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. In “The Strange Death of Alex Raymond,” Dave Sim, legendary creator of “Cerebus the Aardvark,” and Carson Grubaugh, talented and creative artist across multiple media, explore and examine the line-making techniques of some of comics' greatest photorealist creators. Carson’s art is impressive. I really like having the pieces that I’ve picked up or commissioned. He is also a terrific person to work with, and we share a real-life connection as academics. WHOA!!! this is so freaking cool and brings that fine art and deconstructed sensibility to a Wolverine piece. Impressive is an understatement. Huge congrats, so much to look over in this piece and take in.

exactly! I see something new every time I look at it (in fact, the CAF thumbnail shows up a few things you don't see in detail, like that circle traced out through the line of the mask

Wolverine's berserker rage taken out on ninjas! So uch to interpret and discover fro the design of it all! It's like quick edit scenes spliced together in rapid succession to overwhelm the senses!
