DescriptionI'm glad to be able to add a couple of very early George Lichty pieces to the collection. These are the earliest Lichty originals I've seen. This piece features Lichty's bums, which look quite a bit different from his noodly figures decades later. It's interesting to see the structure of the drawing in these earlier works.I've done quite a bit of research on these piece, and the best I can figure is that they ran in Advertising & Selling, a publication devoted to the advertising business. The "1+1+1" gag refers to an advertising strategy, though it's also found in other professions. This piece was done for Botsford, Constantine and Garnder, a well-known advertising firm in Portland, Oregon in the 1930s. Social/Sharing |

It must have been so in use that even hobos knew about them. I'd give this cartooning style a 6,7.
