The Sandman claims the “Iron” Throne

On occasion, artists get so excited to draw a character that they get blinded to your entire premise. I explained to Adam Pollina that my theme involved a Marvel Comics character claiming a throne made up of Iron Man’s armor. He narrowed his options down to the Kingpin, Sandman or Blob with Toad and told me he’d let me know when he decided on the character. That’s when things went a bit awry. The second season of The Sandman was released on Netflix and Adam got a bit distracted. He’d never had the opportunity to draw the character before and when it came time to work on my piece, his mind went right to Dream, rather than Flint Marko. Unfortunately, all of this came up after he’d started and finished the piece. In his artistic dream state, he forgot to get back to me on his character selection, completed the piece and sent it my way. And that is how this lovely piece, the first rendition of The Sandman by Adam Polina, ended up in my “Elsewhen” Iron Throne collection. One of life’s happy accidents.
