Dampyr #104 (2008) pages 50-51: Come to my watery abode

As Hanneke sits by the Moldau River, a man in an antiquated green suit joins her:

“Ah!”

“Woah! Pardon me. I didn’t see you arrive, and…”

“I’m the silent type. I often do this kind of thing. I also like watching the river water flow slowly, but ultimately, it's my home...”

“Prague?”

“No, the river itself, the Vltava. That's where I live.” ("Vlatva" is the Czech name for Prague's river, while "Moldau" is the German name. Czech composer Bedrich Smetana (1824-1884) immortalized it in his beautiful orchestral piece which is known by both names, Vlatva and Moldau.)

“Tell me, do you happen to know my friend Harlan Draka? All his friends are eccentric types.”

“Of course I know him. But I wouldn't call myself his friend. I should introduce myself, sweet young lady. I am the Vodník, the spirit of the river. And I have a weakness for beautiful girls… just like you!”

“Aahh!”

“Come, Hanneke! Come to my house!”

“Let go of me! Noo!”

Remember that it's snowing in Prague, so the river would be icy cold.

The Vodník appeared briefly back in Dampyr 54 'The Theatre of Lost Footsteps.' At the time, he was just one of the spirits watching when Harlan went for a walk with Berthe and kissed her on the Charles Bridge near Kampa Island. This time he's an active participant, and not in a good way.
