Description

In the previous issue, Tesla submitted to Samael's sexual advances. Now she's in his lap in the infernal city of Eblis. He receives a visit from Arioch, one of the titular Princes of Hell who fought Tesla last issue.

“Samael! What are you doing with the vampiress? I sent her here, and it's up to me to kill her.” (The snake on Arioch's arm now has two heads, after Tesla cut its one head off previously.)

“You've got it all wrong, Prince Arioch, and I must ask you to lay down your cleaver, because now, Tesla, my splendid creature of the night, is one of us!”

Sonderling is showing Kurjak this scene, as a form of psychological torture:

“I don't believe it! It's another trick! You can show me whatever you want, clown, but I know that's not Tesla! She and Samael… it's not possible!”

“But it's true. She agreed to be seduced by him because Samael promised to save you… and partly because she wanted it herself.”

“You're lying!”

“I'm not, but Samael is. Now that Tesla has gone over to the side of evil and succumbed to his charms, I don't think the Prince of Seducers has the slightest intention of keeping his promise. I'm sure your desire to die is stronger than ever right now, Emil Kurjak. However, I'll keep you alive for a little while longer. This little game of using you as a hostage might also work with Harlan Draka.”

“You're wrong, bastard! He won't be fooled.”

Sonderling speaks the truth. We saw back in issue #54 that Tesla was attracted to Samael, partly by his seductive and brooding bad boy ways, and partly by his offer to allow her to experience daylight again somehow. It didn't hurt that he has rescued her from death three times as well.

That first panel is great with the evil tendrils extending beyond borders!  Page 12 and Kurjak is about to break with these mind games!

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

As a huge Star Wars fan I'm a sucker for a great throne room scene so panel 1 and 2 on pg. 11 just do it for me in a big way (Tesla related throne doesn't hurt!).
