Dampyr #105 (2008) pages 82-83: Show me the way

In the infernal city of Eblis, Kurjak fills Sonderling with bullets, to no avail:

"I don't intend to fall into your clutches again, Sonderling!"

"Alas, have you forgotten that it's impossible for me to die, Kurjak? The torments you endured before will pale in comparison to the new ones I'll invent for you."

In Prague at the Green Eagle tavern, The heroes try to convince Sir Savnok to help Kurjak and Tesla:

(Sir Savnok) "Ha ha! I told you that Nergal was up to something, Nik. I feel sorry for Blondie (i.e. Caleb Lost). Did I ever tell you about that time in France when we faced an army of brigands together?* It was a few centuries ago..."

(Nikolaus) "Caleb will be fine. But Tesla and Kurjak are in greater danger, Lord Savnok."

(Harlan) "Sir, only you can tell us how to reach Eblis. Nikolaus doesn't know the way."

"Ah, dear Nik. That is confidential information... the gateway to Eblis. You ask a lot! And who's to say I'm not being kept in the dark about it too?"

"An important person like you?"

"Ho ho! It's true! I pride myself on having high-ranking friends... not that Duke Nergal is among them. Oh, not him anymore, that's for sure. But if I help you, I might risk losing those friendships. I don't know if I can afford it."

"I get it. Harlan and I and the folks here at the tavern aren't that important. The greatest favor you get from us is some drinking buddies."

"Of course! Pleasant, warm company. You make me feel at home... I wouldn't want to lose these precious moments."

"So?"

"If I reveal the way to Eblis, then they'll kill you, and I'll lose you anyway. Sending you there is out of the question!"

Back in Eblis Dagon mocks Kurjak: "I can't devour him all at once, but piece by piece, yes. Where will you start, Prince Arioch?"

"One of his arms, Dagon."

Sir Savnok warned Nikolaus about Nergal back on page 11. Savnok is nominally on the Dark Team but mainly likes throwing back booze and engaging in swordfights, regardless of which side he's helping. Check out his helmet full of worms as he guzzles from a tankard.
