DescriptionThis beautiful cover from the Series The power of Shazam 7 was a recent auction win from the October 17, 2025, The Keif Fromm collection. Like most people I was saddened to hear of the passing of Keith Fromm. As Mant CAF members knew Keif had a love for olden age superheroes and built a collection over the years carefully adding pieces to his collection. Like many I was in awe of some of the pieces he had Like The master Comics 22 and 33. also of interest was this cover to The Power of Shazam &. as many who know me, I have a fondness for Captain Marvel and the members of his family. When this series came out in 1995, I found my heaven on earth. Each month I got to live the adventures of the good Captain. What was even better was the fact that Jerry Ordway was doing painted covers for the series. Jerry also has a love of the Shazam universe, and it showed in the work he put into each cover. But when this cover came out, he hit the high-water mark in my opinion. He captured the essence of the captain Marvel mythos. Here you have Captain and Mary Marvel before the wizard shazam in the rock of Eternity with the name Shazam name spelled out with each god power they gained. It tells the story of Shazam masterfully By Jerry. To me this was on my grail list of pieces that I would love to have one day but I knew Keif wouldn't part with this, so I didn't ask him. In some of the emails exchanged between us. I threw in the customary line "if you ever want to move the cover contact me." time went by and I like many discovered he had passed on and that his collection of artwork would go up for auction. the biding was brisk on this, but I wouldn't be denied and was able to win this and another piece of artwork during the auction. To say the I am overjoyed to gain this grail is an understatement. I finally have the piece I have wanted. I wish the circumstances were different and that Keif was still with us. In honor of Keif this piece will reside in the Keif Fromm gallery on this site. rest well my friend.Social/Sharing |

Many congratulations for grabbing this piece! The colouring is so nice on this, and the expression and lighting on Shazam's face is great. Nice to see those additional images as well, providing some interesting context. Great cover!

A magnificently illustrated cover by the amazing Jerry Ordway, and if Captain Marvel is anyone's primary interest in getting covers from this series, I dare say this is likely the best cover from the run! Congratulations on landing it, Brian, it's a killer piece to own.

This is a really great Shazam cover and has so much meaning behind it coming from Keif's collection whose collecting certainly aligned with your interests in many ways (two great collectors!). While bitersweet with his passing, other collectors are now enjoying the art Keif took care of and enjoyed for so many years. Looking forward to seeing what the other piece you won was - congrats!

A great one for Shazam! fans as it bridges the past to the present! Something that Ordway was so good at for DC to renew the spirit of the characters for modern fans. For a character from the golden age to have resonance and still inpsire in the modern age, Ordway had to keep the majesty and wonder alive.

Jerrry did such a great job with this title. he has a love for the characters

- He did a run if great covers for this series. I still think this was the best one.
