Delfin Barral and Kathryn Bolinger, the Sun God Ra Prepares to Destroy the Earth (from Stargate)

Ra awaits the arrival of two groups at his pyramid-shaped warship. First are the warriors he sent to retrieve the atomic bomb that Col. Jack O’Neill secretly brought to destroy the Stargate on Abydos. Second is a contingent of the Abydonians who Ra has mining naquadah, the mineral that the Stargate is made of, and which powers Ra’s technology. Once he has both the bomb and the mineral, he’s going to send them through the Stargate on Earth as an augmented explosive device, causing a blast 100 times more powerful than the bomb alone! Ra expects that will be the end of the human race, which has grown strong enough to affront him.

This page depicts the terrible subject matter with an understated, sometimes elegant line. For me, it makes the scene even more chilling. Stargate # 4, page 5 (1996).
