It's beautiful for what it is with Frazetta showing the softer side of an apex predator.  It's a bundle of muscles nature created for the hunt, but is fascinated by its own reflection in the moonlight. Showing there is always something more at work in how we are all built.

Frank was born in 1928, so he would have been 40 in 1968.

I've never seen this.  It is a beautifully understated painting.  Frazetta had an abundance of talent.  It wasn't all grand gestures, swinging swords and naked babes.  This is beautiful.
