Description
Rare shikishi created by Minoru Nonaka, signed by Gô Nagai

Minoru Nonaka (1957–) is a manga artist closely associated with tokusatsu (Japanese live-action film and television using special effects, especially featuring superheroes, monsters, and robots) and mecha culture. He debuted professionally in 1973 while still in high school and soon became an assistant to Go Nagai at Dynamic Productions, placing him at the center of the 1970s manga and anime boom.

Nonaka is best known for his manga adaptations of major tokusatsu and sci-fi franchises such as Gavan, Shaider, Jaspion, Ultraman, and Space Battleship Yamato, often contributing character designs and early planning materials. These adaptations formed the core of his work throughout the 1980s.

Alongside original projects like Be-Born and Airwolf, he gained early recognition, winning the 12th Akatsuka Prize in 1980 and receiving a special mention at the Kodansha Newcomer Manga Award in 1981. Notable later works include Dennō Keisatsu Cyber Cop, Kamen Rider SD (1993–1997), and the manga adaptation of Gekisō Sentai Carranger (1996–1997), later adapted in the U.S. as Power Rangers Turbo.
