Description
Wow, this image totally rocks!

Even Iron Man is in awe as he flies above the clouds and encounters (for the first time) the Mandarin's flying base, a massive robotic dragon-shaped facility called the Dragon of Heaven.

Love that close-up in panel 2 of Iron Man's reaction.

The Dragon Of Heaven flew using anti-gravity generators, and was covered in an array of weapons. It used plasma cannons, missiles, jagged mechanical "teeth", and its lengthy tail as weapons. For defense it was covered by an electric field, and was able to project pieces disconnected from it.

The outer hull was impervious to energy attacks but when parts of the hull were removed it only exposed more weaponry, and the hull itself was self-repairing.

The machine was so sophisticated it could not be controlled by anyone other than the Mandarin. While the outside of the dragon was formidable the inside was too. Inside lasers, missiles, sonics, and magnetic whirlpools waited along with robotic guardians. The entire robot ran off of an experimental power-core.

How cool would it be to have a base like that?!

Probably!  I'm sure it has the proper attachments.  Haha!

Badass ship, but I think the Mandarin may be overcompensating for something!

Plus, getting an oil change for this baby gives new meaning to the phrase "draining the snake."

This should have done battle with the SHIELD Helicarrier!  Chen's run is so awesome!  He took his X-O Valiant experience and made Heroes Return Iron Man both modern like what Portacio had redesigned and have a proper a classic vibe.  I think this run is where the character turned around from the sad 90's Teen Tony to be a big time hero once again!

The Mandarin's Dragon Ship, shown in all its full glory across a double page splash, by the inimitable Sean Chen? Yes, please! That looks SO wicked cool! Imagine being at the controls of this baby? Wow!

Prepare ship for Ludicrous speed. Fasten all seatbelts, seal all entrances and exits, close all shops in the mall, cancel the three-ring circus, secure all animals in the zoo.

Wow! What a stunning DPS! Gorgeous art by Sean Chen and Sean Parsons! What really makes it work though are the two tiny panels in the upper left--The full body shot of Iron Man flying upwards and the tight closeup of Tony Stark's eye through the helmet, widening as he gets a look at The Dragon of Heaven! And of course, the Dragon itself is a wonder to behold--What a cool base of operations for the Mandarin!  Way better than Nick Fury's Helicarrier or Magneto's asteroid! Fantastic DPS by the two Seans!

Love the image, love the book!  Busiek/Chen Iron Man is one of my favorite comic runs ever.  This one must look that much better in person.  Congrats!
