DescriptionMERRY CAFMAS!!!This was gifted to me by my Secret Santa, the one and only BILL COX! I was legit expecting something Stingray related so I was wildly unprepared for this! Redcoat has legitimately been one of my favorite comics of the last couple years and Bill is well aware of this fact. I've been bugging him to bug Hitch to sell some more pages. In this page we see Simon Pure sitting alone in a bar, contemplating a pint and mortality; a funny thing for an immortal. This is a very solemn page; a quiet moment away from the action and adventure of previous issues. Simon leaves his pint untouched as he exits the pub to visit a dear friend in the hospital. Geoff Johns is doing a spectacular job making this story of an immortal British soldier a lot of things. You get some great alternate history, some sci-fi and fantasy elements when the story calls for them, some great American folk lore, action and adventure... it's all here. And Hitch can do it all, including the quieter, more character driven moments like we have here. I was very surprised to see that Hitch was willing to let go of this page, so imagine my surprise when I got this as a gift instead of a Stingray! I was shocked! Bill, sincerely, thank you!!! You are an impeccable gifter! Social/Sharing |

I wonder if that's a Sam Adams he's decided to pass on. As Hitch's rep, he's got the pick of the litter.

No offense intended to anyone who owns them, but this has so much more going for it, artistically speaking, than any random battle page. The second panel alone is sublime.

great gift (and with really nice art on it), from a story you're digging. That second panel is excellent! Well done Bill and congrats!
