Flapper Filosophy Panel

I was at a wonderful exhibit at the Nornman Rockwell Museum yesterday called Jazz Age Illustration. The art was great and had Rube Goldberg to Erte. It was good stuff. I was lingering at the show because for this one day that had a jazz combo playing live and I was really enjoying looking at OA while listening to good old time jazz. This was a treat. It got me to focus on parts of the show I originally missed. One of the things I missed was three panels from Flapper Filosophy. I was shocked because I picked up four of them years and years ago, when I first started collecting OA. These were cheap as chips, but I loved them, especially this one. There was something about seeing an artist I have in my collection as part of a museum collection. I am sure for those of you who collect big name illustrators, this is a common occurrence, but I am a frugal collector, never spending more than 100 dollars on any one piece, so my collection is loved by me but missing from museum shows. Except now. Now it was in a show. When we got home from our weekend in the Berkshires, I was determined to find the Burrows pieces. They were so old in my collection I had them in a different part of the house. It took a while but I found two of the four. I am sure I will soon stumble upon the other two. These are just lovely. This is not just a woman drawing sexy flappers. There is something honest about the depiction. Hope you like it. Hope you see work similar to your collection up there on museum walls too.
