Description
The late/great Mr. Guice was on my must-list for the longest time. Years ago an opportunity came up and obviously I had to take it. Communication was always there as we discussed his past work. I originally thought of X-Factor given he was the initial artist with Bob Layton as writer. But it changed to the X-Men of the Neal Adams era given his appreciation of Adams’ artistic influence. That’s how it started.
A lot of time passed by though. Yet I never felt the urge to apply pressure. What I didn’t know then till later was that he was going through some private matters. Given all that we still kept lines open and was given updates and drafts. Sadly his health had deteriorated and over time he passed away. A tragic loss to all who enjoyed his art.
Sometime later, his rep sent me the unfinished piece which Mr. Guice was unable to fully complete. It was bittersweet as I gazed the pencil work and inking of the team with the start of the Danger Room as the background. What could have been.

I think Guice was approaching this with a throwback style in this piece where he was more early 80's when the Neal Adams X-Men Classics reprints came out and when he was drawing X-Men versus Micronauts.

A great, unfinished piece staying as a tribute to a great artist.  He is sorely missed.  Real treasures, both himself, and this piece.

His untimely passing hit us so hard. You can tell it was going to be a master piece. You might own his last work.

I'm sure it's bittersweet seeing this and thinking what could have been, but you can still see he was going to do something great with it.  And you can take some pride in owning one of the (if not the actual) last pieces he worked on.  Thanks for sharing!

Even in its unfinished stage, this is an A++ commission.

Guice is one of the all time greats, in my opinion.
