Description
Batman Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Special #2 was the second Batman book that Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale did together. Before The Long Halloween or Dark Victory, there were the Batman LOTDK Halloween specials.

On this page, an injured and delusional Batman sees flashbacks of his mother, Martha Wayne, as his friend Dr. Leslie Thompkins reaches out to help him.

Published as prestige format books, the Halloween Specials were: #1 Choices (1993), #2 Madness (1994), and #3 Ghosts (1995).

The LOTDK Halloween Specials were so well received that they led to the 13-part The Long Halloween series (1996-97).

Awesome Tim Sale!  Remind me, is that Leslie?  Always awesome to have an integral Bat Family member!

Yep. That is indeed Leslie Thompkins as she once again arrives to help/mend Bruce in a time of need.

She's busy. Also, she doesn't care much about comic art.

Such a great page.  These Halloween specials are what really made me take notice of Tim's work.

Jeph Loeb + Tim Sale + Halloween = Special Batman Comic Art

Special Batman Comic Art + Daryl R + CAF = Comments

Simple enough. Now if only I could reverse engineer this whole damn thing and turn Comments into Special Batman Comic Art. Hell I'd settle for non special ones! ;-p

Amazing Tim Sale page! The 2 huge panels of Batman are great, but I might like that 5 mini vertical panel sequence at the bottom of the page more with quintessential Tim Sale facial work as Batman comes to.

Love the reimagining they did of this very classic character that came about during the mid 70's Batman revival.  Revisting a friend from Detective 457 was such a retro thing to do and showed us the tone Loeb and Sale were going for.

The craziest thing to me about this page is that it's well over 30 years old now. Even though I'm usually the youngest guy in the room, that makes me feel old! What a piece!!!

I feel that Spinal Tap's recently deceased director would have approved of this cautiously veiled tribute to Smell The Glove. Two panels here that always stood out to me.
