I recently purchased this from Anthony over the holidays and had it in my hands three days later - so kudos to his warehouse team for lightning-fast fulfillment. I've always enjoyed Carlos Pacheco's comic book work and feel he never got the credit he deserves for helping to establish the house look at the big two - in particular his work on the Final Crisis tie-in books at DC and Age of Ultron at Marvel. He worked with some of the best writers of his era: Kurt Busiek, Warren Ellis, John Ostrander, Rick Remender, Mark Waid, as well as Hollywood scribes David S. Goyer, Geoff Johns, and Jeph Loeb. These are guys that have their pick of whatever artists they want as collaborators, and they all chose Pacheco.

I didn't realize it at the time of purchase, but Carlos died in 2022 shortly after being diagnosed with ALS. This illustration dated 2022 would've had to have been one of the last unpublished pieces he completed since his announced sabbatical in April of that year. I don't know who commissioned him to draw this but I'm glad they gave it up because it's one of my favorite renditions of Delirium. She bears a strong resemblance to Sara Paxton crossed with Shirley Manson, exuding the softness of the former and a bit of the outwardly-conscious sensitivity of the latter. The green and blue fish eyeshadow is absolutely genius.

Great hair and she's also a really good driver.

Pacheco always turned out great work. As someone who never read Sandman, I would never have known who this is. In fact, despite never having read the title, I DO recognoze some of the characters simply as "Hey, that's one of the characters from Sandman.". But even though you've stated that this is Delirium and I've seen her in other commissions, I somehow have no memory of her or any other characters having rainboy colored hair. Regardless, I love the lines, the way he drew the hair, partially shaved, the facial expression an dthe colors. The whole thing is really cool and more interesting because it's not a character you'd associate with Pacheco. Nice grab!

It's so lovely to see Pacheco tackle such a colorful, bubbly, and quirky character like Delirium. Love his take on it. Great pickup for you, congrats! And agree, kudos to the original commissioner for this fresh idea/request towards the end of Pacheco's time taking on a list.

The light colors are great, but I like that deep mascara and the little bit of sadness on what would have been a ditzy babe headshot otherwise.
