Description
It's February, and that means it's time to let the zingers fly!

I've been a fan of Joe's woodcut/scrimshaw style ever since I saw it. I collected a smaller pre-done piece or two, and Jeff Singh was kind enough to pass on a set of the amazing playing cards that he and Joe collaborated on. At OAX 2024 I had a chance to chat with Joe (always a pleasurable experience!) and we started talking about setting up something custom, and a bit larger.

Fast forward to OAX 2025 and behold! The intricacies of the Dream Lord's palace are well suited to Joe's style and the sense of scale is simply immense. All the Endless are represented and suitably styled. We had originally discussed an option for the gate guarding the realm, and while we settled on an interior shot, the inclusion of the griffin in the foreground is a very nice touch.

Also contributing to the vastness of the space is the size which is 16x20. That little bit extra makes for a fun plane ride, and an awesome piece.

The columns are, of course, Corinthian.

Joe will be at OAX 2026 - go get you some, and I'll see you there.

So much precision, care and technical know-how on this page. Joe has wrung every ounce of value variation just through the use of line weights and shapes. A wonder to behold!

The Endless are there (and look great in their own right) but The Dreaming is the true star of this piece! Incredible architectural details, amazing linework, and brilliantly inked/finished - wow!

Typically outstanding work by Joe. I'm a sucker for comic art featuring great looking architecture and that's what this one is all about. Some might say that the architectural detail is Endless!

Beautifully detailed Italianate architecture, with a slightly quirky Escher-like feel. Nice little fantasy touches scattered around. Interesting commission!

They're all there...including Matthew(?)! The real stars, however, are the interior architecture and the perspective that JMD uses to showcase it for maximum visual impact.

Factoring in the size and detail, this is a stunner with some absolutely incredible line work. The architectural detail alone is fantastic. The Corinthian style column is the clear choice for a man with fine tastes, unfortunately though today most readily available options are fiberglass composite blends in the Tuscan fluted tapered style. Sigh.

Stunning commission. The intricacy is amazing. The only thing missing is corinthian leather.

Amazing level of detail - just mesmerizing to try and follow all those lines, they just go on ... endlessly. So well done! Congrats!

I wish DC still published those one-shot "Gallery" books like "The Endless Gallery" because this piece would be absolutely perfect for it.

Man, JMD probably felt endless in terms of finishing this.  Bad joke, sorry.  "Labor of love" comes to mind when looking it.  Unreal linework, whew.  Congrats!
