First and foremost, a sincere thanks goes out to Doug Pflueger for this one! Consider this post a love song to him, Matt Allison, and hell, let's throw Josh Homme in there while I'm at it. All three gentlemen and legends in their own regards.

The soundtrack is a direct tribute to the outstanding use of negative space on this cover worthy title splash. This is a stunning and awesome first image to see when you open up the book. Again I am reminded why I appreciate everything that Matt does. He puts his heart into it, just like in the center of the page. That work ethic and time spent shows in every single piece.

We get some fantastic use of technique and style here. The inks are gorgeous as always, but again look at all of the places that he decided to use negative space! The hair is amazing. He used that same technique for his “Creature From The Black Lagoon” Mondo poster. The hand lettering, the moon, the teeth, the smoke trail... it all works. Even that starry background you see is negative space. Yes, that is correct. Those tiny dots are not uniPOSCA or gel pen! I also love how he drew the character coming out of the moon crater at an almost ninety degree angle. It helps with the flow of the figure and helps to create a damn fine composition.

I could keep going, but I think it's best if you just focus your eyeholes on this beauty.
