Marvel Super Special! issue 6: Jaws 2 page 25

there are some comics that just hit me as a kid. this issue was certainly one of them. the movie freaked me out for sure. the comic is a wonderful take on the film. amazing artwork with a lovely presentation of color and action. the shark is everywhere. its jumps, tears and splashes its way threw many teenagers and massive underwater electric cables. colans style was really intense to me. wicked motion that is just a bit off. many moons ago I contacted genes camp about the possibility of a jaws commission. he was swamped at the time and not adding to his list. unfortunately he passed before we could make that request happen. RIP. I've collected artwork for about 20 years. I would say that in the outlets im aware of these pages rarely pop up. each page in the book is a winner. the couple I have seen out there (2 in 20 years) were overpriced or just not quite what I was waiting for. very happy to have this here now.

"This comic, like the novelization, was closer to John Hancock's vision of Jaws 2. It was to be a darker and bloodier tale and feature meaner teenagers. Brody was more obviously suffering from PTSD, and Amity was struggling to recover.
It first should be noted the comic had to pack a lot in a few pages, and it works well enough. The color is lush, and Jaws 2 was the first Marvel comic to be painted. Yet, the drawings are off. Brody and Vaughn don't look like their film counterparts. The shark is far too big and based on images of caught White Sharks as opposed to living ones or hell even the famed Bruce himself. Yet, for all that, it still works and is the closest we will get to Hancock's vision."
