About comics: " Japanese comics are often confined to a certain framework, and their more independent side is practically unknown in Poland. And it will probably remain that way... However, thanks to the "Maszin" group, we can feel the spirit of "Garo" and "COM" – magazines synonymous with the Japanese comics avant-garde. Magazines that inspire creators around the world. The stories in this volume do not in any way copy the work of classics from the Land of the Rising Sun; they are rather loose impressions, fitting into that trend, while maintaining the style typical of the individual members of the group.

It's time to restore the proper proportions after years of domination of Western comics in Poland.

It took a long time for the extraordinary flowering of Japanese picture literature from the 1960s and 1970s, almost completely unknown in Poland, to be noticed and honored by the only manga group bringing together exclusively non-manga authors.

The ninth issue of the Maszin group's press organ, "Maszinga – Deceptive New Images," presents comics inspired by a broad spectrum of Japanese pictorial art, with authors associated with the magazine "Garo" occupying a special place. In the comics from "Maszinga," tracing the search for "manga-ness" seems just as compelling as discovering the artists' strong individualities in their deceptive new images .
