Stingray Meets... Piranacon

One of my favorite parts about being an art collector, and CAF specifically, is the community. I think it was Jeff Wedding that said OAX is like a family reunion, and he couldn't be more right. We're all there for the same reason - to enjoy art together. I honestly believe I could go to OAX and not spend a single penny on art, and I'd still have an insanely good time hanging out with all the friends I've made in the community.

The beautiful thing about making friends in the art community is that they sometimes surprise you. Case in point: this crazy illustration of Stingray being totally outclassed by the undersea combiner Piranacon was gifted to me by Derek Crabbe, or 'The Professor' as he's known to friends! Derek is an artist in his own right and a lover of Transformers. While it never occurred to me to include Piranacon on my "Stingray Meets..." list of characters, Derek had me covered. The crazy thing is, I had these toys as a kid!!! The Seacons that form Piranacon are:
- Nautilator (lobster)
- Overbite (shark)
- Seawing (manta ray!!! so close!)
- Skalor (coelacanth)
- Snaptrap (tortoise)
- Tentakil (squid)

Stingray fights on while clearly outmatched, but what is UNmatched is Derek's kindness. He did multiple commission style illustrations that were gifted to fellow CAFers at OAX. All I can say is, thank you, Professor. You edify our minds with your knowledge and and our hearts with your caring.
