Description
Thanks to EDLS for bringing this piece to my attention in a comment on a posting of artwork framed on the walls of my home office. After reading Eric's comment, I realized I had never posted this fun gem to my CAF!

This is truly a blast from the past as E-Man was one of the feel-good and fun comics I remember reading back in the 1980's thanks to the First Comics revamp of the character. I enjoyed those First Comics issues so much that I sought out the Charlton Comics run of E-Man Comics. The Charlton run was equally enjoyable and it also introduced me to John Byrne's classic Rog-2000 via back-up stories in E-Man!

I first met Joe Staton in 1983 at a convention in the Washington, DC area. The First Comics E-Man issues were being published and Joe was the artist, so I was stoked when I saw him as the headline guest at a local show. I had a table at the show and was selling comic books alongside (my then fiance) Lynn, so I abandoned her at table to visit with Joe Staton when he arrived. I had a great conversation with him and he seemed truly happy to hear me gush about his work on E-Man! He drew this great sketch of E-Man and his pal Teddy Q for me, and it is certainly one of the very first convention sketches I obtained. It was great that Joe also dated the sketch so I can say for certain when I obtained it. It still brings a smile to my face after 43 years!!

Always enjoyed Joe's linework.  I always thought it was the perfect balance to cartoony and realistic.  In other words, perfect for comics.  Great E-Man sketch.

I have a strong nostalgia for this period and E-Man is just loads of fun.

Nice E-Man sketch. Joe always comes up with the goods, and he's such a great guy as well. Good to see Teddy Q as well.

Joe has such a natural style, like Walt Simonson He started with his best work.  Loved E-Man
