Description
I picked up my first original Japanese manga art at OAX 2026 thanks to CAF member Patrick Raines who clued me in to the stack of art.

Dealer description: A 1960s icon of Adventure King magazine, Hiroshi Kaizuka is a master of "hot-blooded" mechanical action. This flagship series follows the daring pilot Kurenai Red and his red-marked Zero fighter through high stakes aerial dogfights. A definitive piece of Shonen history blending technical precision with the classic spirit of post-war adventure.

First episode of the 1964 anime series based on Kaizuka's earlier Zerosen Hayato is on YouTube.

It's really cool to get something like this which fits your collecting parameters, but in such a different style! It's a very nice piece, too. While we were being treated to the start of the Marvel Universe, this is what was coming out in Japan. Neat!

These were a more innocent take on the war genre than we're used to and made the adventure the focus for kids.  It's quality is right up there for 1961 as it could have easily have been translated into anime of the time.

Manga war art and only a decade and a half or so after WWII! Awesome looking splash (at least I think it's a splash? I don't have the Manga rulebook handy heh.)! Was glad I was able to see several of these pages in person at the show and happy they are now sitting in the best war art collection on CAF! congrats Peter.

Nice framing of the image, foregrounding the hero.
