Description
Generally speaking, the Filipino artists in the DC stable in the 70's were all amazing. A few names became well known, like Alex Nino and Nestor Redondo, in part because they moved beyond the DC mystery books. However, there were many artists who were not as prolific, yet just as amazing. Nestor (Tor) Infante is one of them.

In addition to being a skilled penciller and inker, the story layouts were always interesting, using a lot of white space where others might have used shading or heavier inks to frame the story. Even amongst all the other talented artists, his approach stands out. The first panel with the girl walking away grabs you.

As always, you can have a good lead in and set up without a good story, and George Kashdan, with over 500 stories to his name, does not disappoint.

Suspenders to hike up the short shorts even more!  Very 70's with a sexy damsel in distress!

This page is astonishingly good! I love the sexy image walking away from us i nthe first panel, followed by an intense closeup in the very next panel, which then leads us to the gorgeous image of the terrified woman, beautifully framed by the silhouette of the creature! Outstanding!

Lovely, bold work from Infante. The shadow in the first panel seems to be creeping towards the woman in the first panel and then surrounding her in the inset second panel. Foregrounding the monster in shadow draws more attention to the lit woman. Excellent storytelling.

I have a few originals by Tor myself, and they're really lovely. For me he's the both one of the best Philipino artists, while also being among the least known, which is such a shame. I'd happily have bought this one myself.
