James Harren, Ultramega 9, p. 30

It was sad to see Harren's Magnum Opus series come to a close, but I managed to land a page from the final drop to soften the blow. Love the mugs, action, pyrotechnics, legion-limbed & multi-mouthed mutant Kaijus, and all manner of mayhem and coxcombry on this nutty page! Hardly a mainstream book, but this page has a MLB undercurrent to it to my eye...

Harren is an artist's artist, and he has a dedicated OA collector following, but has not gotten the attention he deserves from the broader comic art collecting community, IMHO. If that facilitates my ability to get his pages, I shouldn't complain! But perhaps with more forays into more mainstream projects, such as his super Absolute Batman Annual short story, he will gain more visibility. I sure hope he continues to focus mainly on these personal indy stories though!
