Rhino - Dan Mora

To me, Dan Mora’s art stands out because of contradictions. It is classic in a “house style” way, yet still stands out as unique on the stands. He somehow maintains amazing detail with his legendary speed! And he finds a way to balance human anatomy with dynamic silhouettes.

Here, I love the strength in Rhino’s face. He made him look like a true Neanderthal with a strong brow and chin. The nose looks a bit crooked, like it has been smushed in battle. While other artists exaggerate his head size, Mora’s Rhino really looks like a guy in a suit. And my wife (a surgeon) was so impressed with the anatomy of the neck muscles.
