Back in the 1990's I helped Jerry Ordway sell a few pieces of his artwork and had the pleasure of visiting him at his home to pick up the originals. During one of these visits, Jerry showed me a bunch of artwork in his files and pulled out this piece. He said "If you can name the characters, you can have the artwork"! Lucky for me I was a reader of DC's Who's Who comics and remembered this entry, so I said "The Creature Commandos". Jerry was pretty impressed and immediately personalized the piece and handed it to me!

An updated version of this quirky team is now appearing in an animated series streaming on HBO Max; it's written by James Gunn and is worth checking out!

I'm not sure if Jerry even knew the names of all of the Commandos! Lucky for me, he did not ask me to name them!
