When it comes to recreations by the ORIGINAL artist, I'm with John in that I prefer re-imaginings to strict (line for line) recreations. Not that this piece isn't mind-blowingly impressive. Plus the fact that you'd probably have to sell your house to afford the original. Great job by John (again).
What an incredible piece! Absolutely love this!
Commission credit Byrning a hole in your pocket! Nice!!
Byrne, baby BURN!
Wow!
John and yourself have been so kind to me over the years I'm happy when you post something for your collection. I am a little jealous of this one, its fantastic!
I read the whole story off the comic rack and when I went to Max Seeley's (of comic book mail order fame) home office. He had X-Men 137 weeks before the newsstand, I grudgingly paid double cover so I wouldn't have to wait.
I think most people may pay notice to that one ;)
What a great piece, Jim. Really incredible. I can't help but wonder if when working on the uber detailed background John jokingly thought 'Damn you Terry Austin!'
Probably the best recreation Byrne ever did! Congratulations!
One of the all-time greatest and the coolest recreation, congrats!
Fantastic!! Probably even better than the original which has now been ruined with all the signatures. Congrats!
That's pretty great!
That's what you would want in a recreation. 1st place.
Fantastic!!!!
Extraordinary, congrats Jim!
WONKA!!!!!!
Blessed goddess! Mein gott! Lenin’s Ghost! Oh my stars and garters!
incredible work congrats
Probably the most memorable non cover by Byrne for me. Epic moment and classic art by the man! Congrats on nabbing this.
This one is interesting in that while he tried to emulate Austin's inks as much as possible, you can see hints of Byrne's own style of inks in this piece.
Love this, Jim!
