Very nice! So original.
Both of us being Spider-Man fans, I cannot see what you liked about this. Or can I ?!!
You can! Permission granted. Our web-slinger doesn't have a rooftop monopoly :) I think!:
Thanks, DF, and all, for the comments!
Very nice and very funny version of J'onn J'onzz, one of the oldest and most original DC heroes (1st app in Detective Comics 225 in Nov 1955). And a really strange version, even by Martian standards :)
It's wierd, and I like wierd!
Whoa vivrant colors. Love it
So much of what makes Harren great in a single image!
Trippy in the best ways!
Love this! When I saw this in Felix's drop announcement I thought about it... The massive mits, garish colors, moody shadows, claustrophobic cityscape, alien mug, and dynamic pose are all so good
AA! You said it all and then some. Love hearing things from fellow collectors that I don't see in the art. "Claustrophobic cityscape" as an example. Didn't see it initially but do now. Thanks for the add!
And there is nothing
I'm Absolute
There is nothing
I wouldn't give
There's Manhunting
Compelling read
Let me introduce you to the cover I've seen
He's got Harren's good style
But you can't shoot that he's green
The cover in the colors
And that's all that he knew
'Cause when you live in Mars' desert
It's what is Absolute
I'm showing Martian
What's it gonna be?
Tonight the inks of change are flowin' wild and free
If I don't get art
Out of this town
I just might be the one who finally burns it down
I'm showing Martian
I'm showing Harren
I like that Harren applied his weirdnes and wonkynes to Rodriguez' AMAZING take on the character.
This feels right out of a Roswell New Mexico UFO tour but it's Martian Manhunter doing parkour on a rooftop. I haven't gotten around to checking out Absolute Martian Manhunter yet but this image alone is making me intrigued! Awesome stuff from Harren and a really unique version of the character that I had not seen before this. great add, congrats!
Unfamiliar with these new Absolute DC characters but loving this cover and its signature James Harren brilliance. Congrats K!
Great cover from one of my current favorite series.
Don't know anything about the Absolute stuff, but dig the cartoonish take on MM. congrats!
It certainly is an odd piece, but I guess that's mostly due to the figure and the stark colour palette. So many features - the depiction of the slightly decaying buildings and the lighting seem very mainstream for a superhero comic set in a metropolis. Perhaps its the 'strangeness' embedded in the 'normal' that makes this a very engaging image, demanding the viewer's attention.
It is a very cool piece! Colors are s0 amazing. They are a significant part of Absolute Martian Manhunter charm!
A fun interpretation. I've been meaning to take a read on this series.
Love Harren's work, great pick up.
Love the style on this! Major congrats!
I just love what Harren does with this character and the colors are absolutely gorgeous! Congrats KG!
Man, this looks nothing like the J'onn J'onzz I remember from childhood. But I like it. James Harren is a singularly talented modern artist who always brings a new sensibility to classic characters. His color work is simply out of this world! Great pick-up, congrats!
Somewhere a crow is watching with great interest.
What an incredible cover! Even if you don't know the character, its explosion of colors dazzles you and at the same time transports you to a dark atmosphere.
great pick, congratulations
The book being super fun is just a bonus! This is a great one, Harren is so unique.
Cool cover! I haven't read the book yet, but I hope that they incorporate Martian Manhunter's longstanding Oreo addiction.
He is channeling Kirby here, but then you have the wild color palette! Harren continues to push the envelope here and I love it. The scan does not do it justice either. Glad I got to see this puppy up close!
We know Harren's a huge Kirby fan and you can see it in his stuff, and as you note, this is no exception! Then of course adding the unique Harren flair. I know you're a big Harren fan and collector, T, thanks for the add! And yes...does indeed look that much better in person :)
Any cover from this awe-inspiring series is a cause for celebration, and James Harden nailed it, congrats !
