VIGILANTE #2 final page SPLASH by POLLARD and MARCOS 1983

Despite having stepped back from the hobby somewhat (due mostly to the crazy price escalation as well as a few disappointing recent experiences with some other collectors and dealers), I still lurk in the shadows and pick up the odd piece here and there. And while I don't really post here on CAF anymore, I thought that given how nostalgia-soaked this particular piece might be for those of us that were at the peak of our comic collecting in 1983, I would make an exception.

Here is the final page splash from Vigilante #2 from 1983 by the great Keith Pollard and Pablo Marcos. I believe it is the biggest published full-figure image of Vigilante by Pollard during his all-too-brief run on the series, including the covers - and the fact that it is on twice-up DC 13x20 art board makes it all the more huge!

As a 12-year old kid that was totally into comics and Ninja movies, a super-hero that had such a super-cool costume AND who used nunchucks as a weapon was just so freaking awesome. At that time I was 100% determined to become a comic book artist and I actually drew and colored a large-scale version of this exact image on a 30x40 bristol board and gave it to the store owner (Jim - great guy) of my local comic shop (Shooting Star Comics) who graciously hung it on his wall for a few years...so needless to say it was very cool to stumble across the original art for that image some 43 years later.
