GCA 1 p1 (cover)

Attended my 40-year high school reunion last week, so it seemed an appropriate time to dig up and scan the horribly amateurish comic I created during those years. GCA was a team book featuring my buddies and I, represented by superheroes saving the world while dealing with typical teen angst. Residing in Houston, with the West Coast Avengers having recently debuted, it seemed logical for the assembled group to be called the Gulf Coast Avengers. As I recall, the stories were concocted spur-of-the-moment and illustrated surreptitiously during Mr. Jay's math class. Somehow nearly 18 issues in total were produced, each drawn on spiral bound notebook paper and consisting of a mere 3 pages (including the cover) with special "double-sized" issues adding an extra page. Lots of inside jokes, random esoterica, discontinuity, and general weirdness. And here is where it all began.  Not sure I'm brave enough to share any more.  We shall see....
