Description

This shot of Herriman was taken in his studio set-up at the Hal Roach Studios. Herriman knew many of the folks who worked for Roach, including Tom McNamara and H W "Beanie" Walker. The gentleman pictured with Herriman is Carroll W. Funk, who was a railroad man in California. The photograph is circa 1939.

Note the framed comic strip up on the wall, believed to be a portion of a Jimmy Hatlo strip.
