Description

Before X-Men '97, there was X-Men '92!

Psylocke discovers that Professor Xavier, seemingly dead, is actually alive. Cable and Archangel argue over X-Force's next move, as the team decides to split up - Cable, Warren, Bishop, Deadpool (not pictured), and Domino will head to Clear Mountain to rescue the rest of the X-Men, while Betsy stays to assist Xavier.

A fun, self-contained mini-series that was one of the Battleword stories from Secret Wars (2015), X-Men ‘92 was a loose continuation of the 90's animated series. Lots of new plotlines and characters that appeared after the show had gone off the air were introduced, including the main antagonist of this arc, Cassandra Nova. I think Koblish’s art was perfect for the series. It is light-hearted and whimsical enough to work as a cartoon adaptation and as a repository of playful Easter Eggs (like Cable’s comically oversized gun). But it is also really kinetic, detailed, and varied, so it still feels like a true, full-fledged comic. Interesting to note, Koblish appears to have drawn all the panels independently, to be knitted together later - as you can see from the published version of the page, the original “screens 1-6” have been rearranged in the final layout. I think Koblish’s style pops with inks, and I was quite pleased to be able to get the original art!

Neat layout!  It looks like a montage, but makes a lot of sense with the published page seeing where they made the panels.

Great addition, love all the Psylocke imagery and also fun to see how it was made and how it was looking when published. Cheers!
